Careers at TPFCU

If you have a passion for helping others, we want to talk to you! At The Peoples Federal Credit Union, our purpose is to educate, and to find solutions for our members. If we can save our members time, effort, or money, we have been successful in our mission.

About Us

The first Credit Union was organized in 1849 in a small Bavarian village by the town’s mayor, Frederick Raiffeisen. He saw people suffering under difficult economic times and the exorbitant interest rates charged by the moneylenders. Raiffeisen persuaded a few friends to pool their money in order to make small low-cost loans to those in need with the person’s character the main collateral. This began a self-help movement that has swept around the world.

The first Credit Union in the United States was started in 1909 in Manchester, New Hampshire. It was a good idea then and it is a great idea now! A Credit Union is owned and controlled by the members it serves and it is the INVOLVMENT that makes a Credit Union truly unique.

The People’s Federal Credit Union, formerly Amarillo Pantex Federal Credit Union, was chartered by a few farsighted Proctor-Gamble employees in 1953. These charter members saw the need to serve the financial requirements of Pantex Plant personnel and began making loans from a “hip pocket” environment.

The People’s Federal Credit Union is a cooperative association organized to promote thrift and create a source of credit for its membership by pooling members’ savings to make loans at reasonable rates of interest, and to offer other appropriate financial services that will enhance the members’ economic and social well-being.

Today, The People’s Federal Credit Union have assets of over 185 million and serve over 19,000 members. We have five full-service branches in the Texas Panhandle and offer competitive products in an atmosphere of trust and member satisfaction.
